Remember when 50 cent was the hot shit? Well, maybe you’ve always hated him, but i remember when the “guess who’s back” mixtape came out and it was the sickest shit i had ever heard. I can specifically remember sitting in my boys car rollin through Jerz and he was bumpin some shit i had never heard before. It was so tight. My boy said “this is the hottest shit out right now.” You could hear the “i don’t give a fuck” attitude come through in every bar. You could feel the grittiness and pain and could tell that it was truly gangster. I know a lot of people talk about being gangster and the whole “real recognize real” shit, but when i heard this album, he was talking about specific shit and you knew he was really a hustler from the streets.
Now what the hell happened to him? Everything he does now is like a lullaby to the ladies and is more R&B than gangster rap. I can understand that when you blow up to be one of the richest guys in rap, your life changes, but you can still be gangster, right? Check out the 2 tracks below. The first is one of his newer tracks with Ne-Yo (already a bad start, right?). Its pathetic in my opinion. Its not the 50 cent i thought was the shit back in 02. Then check out the next track which is from the guess whos back mixtape that ultimately led him to be who he is now after eminem got his hands on it. Its short and sweet.
