Im sure most of you have heard of Big L, Mase, and Cam’ron, but did you know that they all started off in a group together? This was back when Cam’ron was “Killa Cam” and Mase was “Murda Mase” (before Harlem World and before he became a preacher). This is one of the hardest groups, and one of the first, to ever to come out of Harlem. In full, it consisted of Big L (who started the group to get everyone out of the streets), Cam’ron, Mase, Bloodshed, and McGruff. Digga was their producer for a while too.
Their rap style is what you would expect to come out of the streets of Harlem: Dark and dirty beats and rhymes, almost reminiscent of Wu Tang back in the day. Real simple, and real grimey. Amazing lyrical styles.
Before they ever made it big, most of the members were either killed or did other things. I actually don’t think they ever even got a record deal before bloodshed was killed. And if you read about how Big L was killed, you know he’s a gangster.
I wish this group could have made shit happen. In my opinion, they could have been like Wu Tang, which is now a fuckin empire. Anyway, enjoy the track i’m posting. The beat is simple, the lyrics are clever, and its dark/dirty/grimey/ghetto/gully or whatever the true gangsters say.
This second video is probably their most famous track and has all members on it. Get your ol school on….being from the east, this shit brings me back.
