Life by the Drop

I bring to you, one of the best/most influential guitar players of all time.  Thats right, SRV or Stevie Ray Vaughn.  He is my favorite guitar player ever (sorry trey, even you have to take a back seat to SRV).  He can play one note and you can hear the soul screaming out of the guitar.  His radical take on blues guitar playing was unheard of when he first started.  I actually used to have some shows where the crowd was booing him.

His life was quite insane as he had a long history of crazy cocain consumption that would make rick james amazed.  He would go into the studio and there would be pyramids of coke sitting on the piano.  You can also tell in his live performances by his pale face and sweat dripping all over his guitar (not like warren haynes, he’s just a guitar slut that sweats all over everything).

He eventually collapsed from all of his drug abuse, and decided to get sober.  Unfortunately, after an alpine valley show that he played with double trouble, his helicoptor crashed into the side of a hill while leaving the show.  It was so unfortunate that this had to happen right after he got sober and was ripping again.

Now that you know his background, its time to hear him shred.  I wanted to step away from the norm and post 2 videos.  This first is a prime example of his fast paced blues and insanely fast fingers on the guitar.  It also shows off his amazing fashion style that only a Texas native could pull off.  The second video is probably one of the most beautiful songs i can think of.  So smooth, so pure, so heartfelt.  Check it.
